Tweezerman Neons – It’s Always Summer in South Florida!

IMG_9335

I recently received this lovely set from Tweezerman to review. Now you may think that it being September this might be a little late for a neon, but since I live in South Florida, I’m a lover of bright and neon colors all year long!

Their Neon Hot Filemates come in three gorgeous neon color combos – bright citrus in Upbeat Orange, pomegranates in Passionate Pink, and my favorite (as well as being the one I received) strawberries in Ravishing Red! The files have been improved to professional quality featuring 100/180 grit for filing natural nails and medium sanding of acrylics. And the Tweezerman Fresh and Fruity Mini Slant Tweezer is perfect to carry in even your smallest bag!

These are both wonderful additions to the Tweezerman family and very user friendly! I love the case for my tweezers and the protective cover for the tips.

I’ve found myself reaching into my bag for these tweezers more times than I realized I would use them! I like the length of the file. It will last a good long time till I need to replace it!

If you haven’t tried this brand yet, what are you waiting for?

Tweezerman & Cynthia Rowley

I’ve been seeing nail polishes and nail treatments by Cynthia Rowley in many of the better department stores lately. And now she’s joined forces with brand icon Tweezerman, with the Cynthia Rowley Limited Edition Designer Series collection, exclusively at Sephora.

Tweezerman was kind enough to send me two of the new items and I’m really excited to be able to share them with you. I know you’ve seen me post about Tweezerman before and their fine line of eye beauty products. They also have a manicure line which you may not be aware of. So I’m going to talk to you not only about the new slant tweezer I was sent, but also about the double-sided file (Filemate), both from the new Cynthia Rowley line.

I love the feel of this tweezer and I’m one of those that keeps things like scissors, files, AND tweezers, in all rooms of the house. I have used them for stray hairs, removing splinters, tweezing my brow, (and maybe one you don’t want to admit to – the occasional picking of a flea or tick off my kitty, or maybe your dog). This slant design is easy to use and the colors are beautiful, so this one may be kept in my bathroom cabinet! 🙂 I received the cobalt blue and I love the design mixed with the green, white and black. It is also available in a light blue.

The double-sided Filemate comes in a similar pattern to the file I received, but in multiple shades of pinks, white and cobalt blue. The small size snuggles in it’s own slim case to keep it clean and protected, and fits comfortably in a pocket or purse.

These are really fun and functional products Tweezerman and Cynthia Rowley have come up with. I would recommend picking them up for yourself, or as stocking stuffers. Yeah, I think I know what my girls might be getting this year. And I’ve got a nice little Sephora gift card just burning a hole in my pocket!

Ulta Benefit Birthday Brow Bar & Bonus Tweezerman Review

Note: Picture Heavy

I’m pretty excited to tell you I was accepted into the Tweezerman Ambassador program in May. Since my blog focuses on health, beauty and fitness, and they make so many great products, I wasn’t exactly sure what they’d be sending. So I can tell you I was really happy to receive their signature Tweezerman kit filled with brow and eye products.

As a natural blonde I have been extremely lucky to have been blessed with very light colored arm, leg and facial hair. So my eyebrows haven’t been a huge issue with me, but I’ve never had ones that I thought were shaped terribly well. Enter my birthday. And the free Birthday Benefit Brow Bar at my local Ulta. And my Tweezerman Brow kit. Can you see where this is going?

I had Lunch and fitness classes to teach just around the corner so I got an early afternoon appointment. I arrived in plenty of time for the 1:40 festivities. And Mehgan was ready for me. I certainly picked her brain as we sat down to do my brow-acure! She said most people never ask any questions and she was more than happy to comment on anything I asked!

First up. Ulta uses only Tweezerman products at their Brow Bar. They love the professional feel of their line and we discussed what many of them were for and how to use them correctly. They do not use the very pointed tweezers at the store because they are working so near the eyes (obviously) that they don’t want the liability in using such a product on the public. But Mehgan said at home THAT is her favorite tweezer. It gets in tight and she loves the ability to get such a clean pluck!

The Brow Bar uses waxing and plucking so there were a lot of tools we used. First she started out with the brush to brush my brows and the small scissors to lightly trim any hairs that were too long. There were just a tiny few. She said NEVER pluck them out because they will leave a hole where the follicle was and could leave a hole in the brow line. OK, too late on that one. I did have one long thick hair one time in my brow that I did yank out. Stupid move and I know better now. But she looked and said it didn’t cause any serious damage. Whew! So she used the little brush to brush up and away from my brow line. Don’t brush with the curve of the brush, that’s not how it’s intended to be used.

She then took a long thin waxing stick and made three points around my brow to outline it’s curve. She held it first directly at the nose and up the brow and made a tiny dot with a brow pencil. Then she held it midway at my nostril and up to the midpoint of my brow. Lastly was at the outside base of my nose to the outside of my brow. She repeated it on the other side. Since I don’t have big thick brows (and never did), there wasn’t a lot to work with to make those dramatic arching brows many women have. And she had said that the way I had been tweezing had caused me to have a “comma”, which I had to totally agree with. But she said it was all good and she cleaned it up with short little strokes of wax and quick yanks from the little muslin strips she had.

Meghan used sharp quick little plucks to clean-up above and below the brow after waxing. I wish I could do it that fast and painless to myself. I’m gonna practice! LOL And said the assortment of tweezers in my kit was a great way to get a comfortable fit for the type of instrument I would feel best using. There’s no wrong or right tweezer, only the one that works best for you.

She then used a cooling gel on my brow (aloe would work if you have no allergies to it) and massaged my brow. Now THAT was worth the whole waxing and plucking in my opinion! And touched me up with a bit of concealer to erase the redness. Then she cleaned up the tools with alcohol and put them back in the case I had brought them in.

We used the BrowMousse, a kind of setting gel to keep my brows in place. She stroked it on lightly and quickly and it never felt like I was wearing anything. I was worried I was going to have a heavy feeling over my eyes. Nope, not at all. Then she pulled out the Lashcomb and flipped open the top and said “This is the BEST lash comb you can find. See these metal teeth? They work so well to separate your lashes. You’ll never use one of those plastic combs again!”

And she also reminded me that you can return your tweezers to Tweezerman for free sharpening for as long as they can still be resharpened! Click here for details. So it’s always a good idea to have an extra if one is out for repairs.

Because I’m so blonde she thought the Brow Definer was a little too dark for me. But she used the Highlighter to create luminosity and brighten the area under my brow. I was very satisfied with the effect of everything we had done. And I got quite a brow education from a trained and talented esthetician.

After I was through I had to take a swing through Ulta, which is one of my favorite beauty supply stores. I found Tweezerman products in more than one location in the store. Their products are available in the time honored silver as well as fun designs and colors like one of the tweezers that was included for my review in what I would call a mini. It came in a plastic carrying tube which keeps it safe in my purse.

I am excited that Tweezerman gave me this opportunity to review their quality products. And to Ulta for allowing me to have the free brow done while learning how to actually use the tools correctly. Even though they provided the Brow Kit free of charge, all views and insights are my own opinion.
