A few months ago I blogged about a swap I had with a lovely Brazilian girl. She sent me some polishes by Ellen Gold that are a lovely holo. I finally wore my first one. I have way too many untried I’m trying to work my way through and thought this would be perfect to go with that gold pedi I just posted about!
In my birthday group I was gifted an Orly polish, Crawford’s Wine. It is beautiful! It was part of the Valentine’s Day Collection a couple of years ago. Since I don’t buy a lot of Orly (my helmer has less than a half drawer full), I don’t follow their releases as well as maybe I should because the ones I’ve gotten as gifts or picked up on sale at Sally are gorgeous and a dream to apply. This one is no exception. I applied one nice coat as my undies over my base. Since I knew I’d be topping it I didn’t necessarily do the best job on the base. 🙁
This is a photo of Ellen Gold Holo Vermelho. It actually is very dull without a topcoat. I used my normal Sally Hansen Clear 110. I wore this mani all week and only had minimal tip wear.
If you get the chance to pick up any of the Ellen Gold holos – go for it. This is a spectacular color, and the only reason I put undies with it was because it’s not a polish I can just go down to the store and pick up if I run out and I don’t want to do that! LOL
Even in the shade it’s a good looking holo! I hope you have the chance to get some of these and try them for yourself. 🙂
Sally Beauty is well known for their clearance sales. But when I shop I usually wait till the big sales when all clearance goes to an additional 50% off. Oh yeah, they had one just last weekend and I picked up way too much stuff, but it was hard to resist when I was paying around $2 a bottle for Orly and China Glaze. It’s quite a savings. And it was old collections that they can’t be bothered with or aren’t made anymore.
So I want to show you a mani I did with two of the colors I picked up from the sale. I really should say a pedi, please don’t squeal if you don’t like toes. I’ll try not to be offensive! 🙂
I’ve been finding myself drawn to golden polishes more and more. I spotted Orly Glitz on the sale table and immediately grabbed it. My bottle simply says Glitz, but I think it’s called Glitz & Glamour from the 2010 Holiday collection, while Glitz is from their permanent collection. So I am confused by that one and don’t really know for sure. Just suffice it to say if you come across either – BUY it! This is just one coat of Glitz as my base color.
And the layering polish is China Glaze Electrify from the Hunger Games (nope never read it or saw it) Collection. I love the red and gold glitter in this one. And these two polishes together do not disappoint. My toes look like they glow. Since I’m a South Florida girl and nearly live in open toed shoes, I’ve had a lot of excitement from this combo when people see my toes! I love them together and how they really bring out the bling in each other. I can’t wait to try them as a mani when I have something happening where I really want to draw attention to me! Hahahaha
Hope I didn’t scare you off too bad with a toe picture. If you already own these polishes try putting them together and let me know how you like the combination!
Hey girls, guys, bloggers, non-bloggers! We have a new group on facebook called The Traveling Polish. Our goal is to have 100 people join and snap pictures of their mani (or pedi, why not?) with the polish, include a local postcard, and send it to the next member on the list. This sounds like lots of fun. With so much imagination out there I can only dream of what some of these manis and the backdrops will look like!
So far we have members from warm tropical climates like Florida (beaches, palm trees and pina coladas!) Hometown midwestern places with beautiful flowing fields and cool, crisp lakes. Northern and Western cities, both large and small. Countries in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. And we’re looking for YOU to put your city, state, country on the map till we hit our majical 100 mark! There is still time left, but with more and more members blogging about it, and at more than half our member goal, those remaining spots will fill up fast! The start date of this journey is March 1st. So hop on board TODAY!
